21. John McIldowie (George Mc Ildowie , Patrick , James ) [scrapbook] was born in 19 Jan1792 in Monzievard, Perthshire. He died in 1855 in Murray Street. Annan. He was buried in Annan Old Church Graveyard..

John worked as Master Builder. Ran his own stone mason firm for most of his working life in ANNAN Dumfriesshire. (See scrapbook for list of buildings by John) He moved from his home town of Crieff to Annan to assist in the building of Kinmount House which was built for the Marquest of Queensbury early 19th century, the house was constructed from ashlar stone from the Cove Quarry Kirkpatrick Fleming and we know he work at the quarry where he met his future wife Mary who live close bye at Wysbie Mains Farm.

John married Mary Gorlay, daughter of Sam Gorlay and Mary Harkness, in 15th Nov 1789. Mary was born in 1797 in Kirkpatrick Fleming, Dumfriesshire. She died in 1855 Age 58 in Murray St. Annan.
