Sudden death on Saturday evening a widow, Margaret McIldowie aged 58 reciding in Lady Street, Annan was found lying dead opposite North Street Nurseries. Desceased was found lying face downwards by two or three gentlemen who where passing along the street, the body was stiff and there were several bruises on the face, supposed to be caused by the unfortunate woman falling on the road, as there were no other bruising on the body and no indication of a struggle it is supposed she had a fit and in following had landed in the mud as her mouth and nose was full of it.
Desceased was very much addicted to drink.

Margaret was never married therefore father of George is unknown. Her first grandson was call William McKie McIldowie and it begs the question was William McKie the grandfather????


79. George McIldowie

Born Paisley, Solicitor, Served apprenticeship with Muir and McClure Writers toe the Signet, Greenock. Came to Belfast in 1859 to work for H&W Seed Solicitors. In 1886 he formed the firm George McIldowie and sons founder member of the BElmont Bowling Club and honary member of the nock Golf Club. Prominent in Masonic circles and Conservative local politics. Communicant of Belmont Cheurh. President of St Andrews Society. Died 29th November 1910
